"Whoever will lose his life for My sake, he shall save it."
(Luke 9:23-24)

Christ didn't defend himself against the accusations of the court of the High Priest.

"And standing up, the high priest said to Him 'Do you answer nothing? What is it that these witness against you?' But Jesus was silent."
(Mat 26:62-63)

Christ was compelled to walk a mile to Pilate's Court, and He walked another mile to Golgotha's hill.

"And when they had bound Him, they led Him away and delivered Him to Pontius Pilate the governor."
(Mat 27:2)
"And they brought Him to Golgotha Place (which translated is, Place of a Skull)." (Mark 15:22)

Christ let them have His garment to put on a purple robe in its place; then later, allowed them to divide His tunic by lot.

"Then taking Jesus into the praetorium, the soldiers of the governor gathered the cohort against Him. And stripping Him, they put a scarlet robe around Him."
Mat 27:27-28)
"Then when they had crucified Jesus, the soldiers took His garments and made four parts, one part to each soldier; and also His tunic."
(John 19:23)

They beat Him with a whip and He resisted not.

When they nailed Jesus' right hand and foot, He turned to let them nail His left hand and foot.

So then Pilate took Jesus and scourged Him."
John 19:1
"And they crucified Him..."
(Mat 27:35)

"He said, 'It is finished!' And He bowed His head and gave up the Spirit"
(John 19:30)

Yes, on the cross Christ showed us who God is and finished His Fathers work by walking His talk to Calvary. Christ lived out His Father's commandment that we love as He does.

He slept the sleep of death...
and the raging sea calmed. Within His sight...
a morning so bright.

For Christ there was no sting of death... for He had the promise of the Father for those who are righteous.  He rose on wings of eagles... for Satan cannot ovecome our infinite God or outwit His plans for Christ... or for us.

Then Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do."
Luke 23:34

"And they were all filled (with) the Holy Spirit..."
(Acts 2:4)

"Then indeed, after speaking to them, the Lord was taken up into heaven..."
(Mar 16:19)

On the cross, and the circumstances surrounding it,
Christ portrayed God, and He did it in the following way:

I
"Do not resist evil"
(Mat 5:39)

II
"And whoever shall compel you to go a mile, go with him two"

(Mat 5:41)

III
"And to him who takes away your garment, do not forbid your tunic also."

(Luke6:29 )

IV
"But whoever shall strike you on your right cheek. Turn the other to him also."
Mat 5:39

He forgave

VII
"No one has greater love than this, to lay down his life for his friends. You are My friends if you do whatever I command you."
John 15:13-14

"Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father."
(John 10:17-18)

"...Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee," (Luke 24:6)

The Thief

But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

Everyone who truly believes in the death, burial and resurrection of Christ will have faith in their determined God to help them lose their life in order to saved them - to transform them to be able to hear and obey His words and bear their cross.  They will never know the sting of death, and will be with Him where He is.
They will live on earth the life that pertains to eternity... a shadowy figure of the life they will have in heaven.

As Christ did, have faith in God to lose your life to love... doing so is obeying His words and eases your journey to heaven - this is your part of the deal.  Faint not... look to Christ on the cross.  It says God will tolerate anything from us to transform us to accomplish His will.

But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.
(Matthew 5:44-48)

As He did... lose your life by loving...
this is what you signed up for.

If we don't repent, like the railing thief on his cross, we shall reap what we have sown.  God will not tolerate sin; justice will prevail, for God ordained that His mercy is eternal... a mystery yet to be revealed.

"And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; and neither shall anyone snatch them out of my hand."
(John 10:28)
Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high."
(Luke 24:49)

A wild Eagle thinks it criminal for someone to trim it's wings, yet an Eagle that is eventually domesticated finds vast freedom by having been clipped... freedom within the domain of its master, where there is food, and safety... a strange  life unimagined by the wild Eagle who goes to great lengths to make sure it isn't caught.  Such is the Kingdom of God.
