My Lord, my Savior, help me to lead a life of love and treat me with justice!
Ignore my call for forgiveness if I do not forgive others!
Ignore my repentance if I ignore another's repentance!
Listen not to my confessions if I disdain another's confessions!
Have no mercy if I show no mercy!
Show me no grace if I am not gracious!
Have no patience in my growth in life
if I show no patience in the growth of others!
Treat me, Oh God, in the same way that I treat others.
Judge me, Oh God, in the same way that I judge others!
For it is only right that I should do unto others
as I would have them do unto myself.
A life of love is no more than what I should lead,
and I am rightly deserving of condemnation
for a life that is not filled
with remorse when love is not shown.
Help me Lord to be what you have told me to be
through Your Son, Jesus.
Help me to be Your Hands, Your Feet,
to show through my actions that
You are a God of strength, a God of mercy,
the one God of beauty and grandeur who judges righteously.
One who is worthy of great loving respect,
and for those who disdain your counsel - worthy of fear.
Though fear of themselves is of greater value -
for they reap what they sow.
Help me to remember that which
only a sincerely reflective life will reveal,
that what I don't like in others may be a mirror reflecting me.
For we are all challenged with a body
genetically weakened by generations of selfishness.
Keep me humble and open to Your correction
- in whatever form it takes -
and keep me open to the needs of others.
Teach me to give of myself in any way necessary,
without expecting anything in return.
Help me to stand in grace when wrongly or rightly judged.
Let me be willing to relinquish my rights
in order to establish another's rights.
Admonish me to not take advantage
of the love and grace extended to me by others.
If I err - let me err on the side of selfless love for others,
and let not tough love be an excuse
for punishing or judging others.
And if I am given any earthly authority, then give me wisdom to
judge as You would judge, that I may temper
my judgment with mercy when mercy is shown.
Truly - leading this life seems impossible.
Let no one ever curse God due to my actions,
but forgive us both if they do.
Lord, let the heritage expressed above
-the proper attitude in life passed down to us by Christ Jesus -
be passed to all my generations to come!
