The night... a time to stop and ponder. To ponder the good and bad - oh Lord let me meditate on the good - to think of those edifying things of your grace... to bask in the comfort of your arms when the enveloping darkness comes. Let me trust as my muscles relax and my eye lids falter. In sleep let my mind not wonder past those good things, I pray.

Keep me steadfast in your love as I slumber. At the cock's crow let me wake remembering that as Peter, Your grace is sufficient to guide my day - even when I sin, for though these actions hinder, You shall never utterly leave me or forsake me. As the suns rays penetrate my darkness and finds the light of my soul, I learn no matter what I do or how much pain I cause myself… You shall find me.

The morning's advancing and waning shadows are the same shadows cast from the cross. Let these shadows remind of sin and reveal the cross… that You shall find me... Thousands of miles, or as many years… even trails of heartbreak are nothing to You... You shall find me. In the night so dark... in the stormy seas… You shall find me! The thunderous roars and bashing waves shall not hold You back, nor the sword and spear shall deviate Your path... You shall find me! Your loving eyes are set steadfast…determined to find me… nothing to stop Your quest.

Day by day You scatter the darkness of my soul as the sun scatters the night - nowhere for darkness to hide. Every morning's a testimony, an expectation of this life's journeys end... to know Your light is but a moment away to awaken my mind's eye to see.

Oh to avoid the dangers of night! To mount on the wings of eagles! To hasten my journey to the warmth of the sun's light! But the searing sun's stare is too bright. The many sunsets do Your will and prepare the way... to this I bow in patience and trust. To look directly at the sun is not the way! For no other way than this shall be; You alone know the path and journey that awaits. You alone change my darkness to light.
In expectation of the glory of the sunrise shall I lay down and rest, for You will do what's best. As the cross so loudly speaks... I glory in this: You shall find me! For to be found, You've made as our quest.

It is vain for you to rise up early, To sit up late, To eat the bread of sorrows; For so He gives His beloved sleep.
